Jorge Oteiza y Eduardo Chillida. Diálogo en los años 50 y 60
This display was an exhibition milestone, since it showcased the works by the artists Jorge Oteiza and Eduardo Chillida together for the first time. The exhibition, both in Valencia and on its visit to San Sebastián, was made up of more than a hundred pieces created during the 50s and 60s, which maintained a dialogue with each other throughout the public’s tour of the exhibition.
ART i CLAR took care of the exhibition’s entire logistics: constructing the packaging for the pieces, then packaging and transporting them, before setting them up and taking them down at both venues. The pieces came from around twenty museums, public and private institutions, and from private collections.
The challenge of coordinating the packaging and transportation of works scattered around Spain was coupled with the complexity of handling some pieces which, due to their location and size, required careful, detailed planning as well as special techniques such as cranes. This was the case, for example, with the doors to the Basilica of Aranzazu in Oñate, a work by Chillida, and the Apostoles sculpture by Jorge Oteiza that presides over the entrance to the Jorge Oteiza Museum in Alzuza.
